Ladies 2007 Prizegiving Dinner


The 2007 Ladies Prizegiving Dinner was held in the Clubhouse on Friday 9th November with the usual good attendance. Janet Milne, as Match Secretary, was responsible for the organisational arrangement for the presentations, which were made by Lady Captain Joanna Scott assisted by Lady Vice-Captain Karen MacMartin.

Top prize for the year, that of Lady Champion, went to Lesley Robertson, seen here holding the Trophy after being prsented with it by Joanna Scott. Lesley was also the Silver winner of the Spring Meeting.

Pauline Warlow holding the Stevenson Trophy, her prize as runner-up in the Championship. Pauline was also the Silver winner of the May Medal and the SLGA Broach, and was runner-up in the Bernardo's Competition.

The Hollingworth Trophy, the knock-out competition for those in the Bronze category, was won by Angela Barr, seen above on the right with Margaret Forrest, her opponent in the final. Angela also won the Osborne Cup and the Bronze category of the June Medal, while Margaret was the winner of the Mollie Montgomery Memorial Trophy.   

The Sir John Train Cup, the Handicap Singles knock-out competition held over the season, was won by Flo Wilson, holding the trophy on the photo above with the runner-up Doreen Rogerson.

The Centenary Rosebowl is a new Mixed Foursome competition, held for the first time in 2007 to commemorate the Ladies Centenary. The inaugural winners were Alison Findlay (above, left) with husband David, and the defeated finalists were Michelle Molloy (seen here with Alison) and her husband.
The Centenary Salver is another new competition, this time an 18-hole stroke play round. It was won by Marjorie Seymour (on the left) with Margaret Brown runner-up.  Marjorie in particular had a very successfull season, winning also the Silver category of the June Medal, The Ringer competition, the LGU Medals, the Autumn Meeting, the Past Captains' Trophy, and the Scratch Aggregate Quaich.

The lady with the most successfull season must have been Julie Kelly, seen here holding the Jubilee Cup and the Silver Tumbler after having presented with them by Lady Captain Joanna.  Julie also won the LGU Broach, the Bronze categories of the LGU Medals and the April Medal, the Children First Triad, Round 1 of the MacAllan Salver, and was runner-up in the Bronze category of the Ringer Competition. Not bad for someone who took up golf only a couple of years ago!

Lady Vice-Captain Karen MacMartin also had a good year, winning the Bernardo's competition, and the Bronze categories of the SLGA Broaches, the Red Cross Eclectc, and the Ringer competition.

Mary Nisbet was the winner of the Winter Eclectic Silver category.......
.....and the Bronze category was won by Margaret Dempster.

The MacAllan Salver is a knock-out competition played for by the top two in each of four qualifying competitions. The winner of each of these competitions recives a golf ball (as well as entry to the knock-out stages) and this year the four were (from left to right):

The Medal Finals were won by Linda Macdonald (Silver category) in the centre and Janet Strain (Bronze category) on the right, shown receiving their prizes from Lady Captain Joanna.  The Thomson Trophy was presented to the Club a few years ago by Sandy Thomson and his daughter, Marjorie Seymour, to encourage young girl golfers. It is awarded for the best eclectic score from April to Septemebr each year. This year's winner was Linsey Aitken (above), and the runner-up was Alexandra Duffy, who took up golf only this year.
