Derivation Laigh: an old Scots word meaning “Low” – this is the lowest part of the Course.
Description The Tee shot here must be left of the radio mast which can be seen in the distance if it is to avoid the heather, but go too far left and distance is lost because of dense semi-rough. The second shot looks straightforward even though it requires a wood or very long iron, but beware of “Ailsa “Craig”, which is a mound of gorse in the middle of the Fairway 50 yards short of the Green. Going left or right of this is likely to catch one of the two bunkers at the front of the Green if the shot is long enough.
