Derivation Riggs: a Scots word meaning top of a hill
Description An avenue of trees funnels inwards towards the Green on this hole which plays longer than its length because the first 200 yards is up a steady incline. The drive has to be centred to avoid the two bunkers on the right and the tight semi-rough on the left. This leaves a long or mid-iron to carry the bunker in the middle of the Fairway 30 yards short of the Green and avoid the bunkers on the right and left front edges.
